New Canon EOS 5D and EOS 5DS R

The Canon EOS 5D series has remained the most beloved and formidable DSLR range in the world. The latest model from the series will be marked as the successors to the underwhelming Canon Mark III and vaunted Mark II, which debuted in 2008 and ignited the video SLR revolution.

The new models are designed specifically with photographers seeking colour reproduction and detail, for example, shooting landscapes or architecture and wanting to preserve as much detail and realism as possible. The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R aren’t designed with wildlife or sports photography in mind and won’t be the best DSLR to photography in low light conditions.

It’s worth noting that the EOS 5DS isn’t the EOS 5D Mark IV, crucially. The Mark IV should be more of an all-rounder, and it’s believed that it will be announced later in 2015.

In other news, the first image has emerged for the Canon EOS M3 – the camera is due to be announced on Friday, February 6, 2015.
